The Malaysian palm oil production is expected to increase closer
to 19.00 million tonnes this year from 18.45 million tonnes
in 2022 while export demand is expected to grow to 16.30 million
tonnes from 15.71 million tonnes previously.
That said, the oil palm is undoubtedly the most versatile and productive oil
crop – also the world’s most edible oil. The upstream sector of the oil palm has
impacted the entire value chain by this commodity which has come a long way
due to investments in research and technical promotion.
The Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) is upbeat in prioritising R & D and services
along the whole value spectrum, along with the management of sustainable
development and productivity issues.
